John Martin, GWM Water – November Industry Cluster Evening

John spoke about some of the challenges facing the Grampians Wimmera Mallee region, including drought and the large scale projects such as the Wimmera Mallee pipeline. An interesting feature of this talk is what GWM water is doing to look forward to the future including, building a new social contract, adapting to a drier future climate, supporting sustainable growth and reducing the environmental footprint.

City of Onkaparinga awarded for its sustainability initiatives

Water Industry Alliance member the City of Onkaparinga has been awarded two awards in recognition of its initiatives in sustainability and water conservation.

The stormwater recycling project Waterproofing the south won the National Stormwater Industry Association award. Waterproofing the south is a catchment wide stormwater harvesting project. Brian Hales of the City of Onkaparinga recently presented at a WIA Market solution forum about the Waterproofing the south stormwater recycling project. The city also received the Water Conservation Award in the National Keep Australia Beautiful Sustainable Cities contest.

Congratulations to the City of Onkaparinga for this national recognition of their water conservation and reuse projects.
